JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned on Sunday the terrorist attack in Mogadishu, which resulted in killing six people, including two children.
Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, secretary-general of OIC, expressed his condolences to the Somali government on this tragic loss of lives, and the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The secretary-general said the cowardly attack targeting government buildings and civilians is an attempt by terrorists to undermine peace and stability efforts in Somalia. He stressed the need to strengthen global partnerships to counter the threat of terrorism.
The OIC also condemned the deadly attack by Boko Haram on a military base in Nigeria’s Borno State, which claimed the lives of one officer and thirty soldiers and left others wounded during the assault.
Al-Othaimeen expressed dismay at the brutal attack by the terrorist group and conveyed his deep sympathy and condolence to the authorities in Nigeria as well as to the families of the victims.
